Thunderbolts Festival is a captivating annual event first staged in 1998, and having undergone many changes over time, unites the community in a spirited celebration honouring the legacy of the legendary bushranger Captain Thunderbolt.
Held on Saturday of the last full weekend in October, the festival kicks off with the Bush Poets Breakfast at the Bowlo 7:30am for 8am start, the street parade is at 10:30am and activities in Alma Park 11am-3pm. Hemlock’s ‘Man-Trap’ Show and Helly Hoops roving circus performer, live music by Four Book Trilogy, Chilli Jam & Friends, rock climb wall, inflatable obstacle course, giant dual slide & jumping castles (all for just $2!), markets, face painting, photo booth, hula hoop competition and New England Antique Machinery Display. Onsite we have the Herd Bar coffee van, food by local schools and Friends of McMaughs.
New – Car and Bike event at the Bowlo from 12 to 5pm, there will be a car & bike show, tattoo competition and (slow bike) gymkhana.
New – Night event 7:30-8:30pm in Alma Park with DJ Electric Postman, interactive neon Helly Hoops Show & Playspace and the Uralla Arts Lantern Parade and static display – promises to be a fabulous end to a huge day!
