Oh, what a lot of fun we had!
Even Mick the mayor said that he hadn't had so much fun in ages, and it was the first time in a long time he actually got up and danced, as a number of us did.

It was a 1950's theme, seeing as this was our 60th birthday - the club having been charted in 1956.

Like a bazillion photos were taken last night, coming up are just a small sample of those :)

Incoming President Michael with Rotarians Russ and Fran in character :)

10-11 Oct 15

Saturday the 4th of October saw an invasion of sorts in Uralla when the group of ex Australian SAS regiment soldiers known as the Wandering Warriors came to town on their Mega Challenge trek from Brisbane to Canberra.

The relay walk covered some 1300km over 19 days with 12 walkers walking in a relay fashion for the entire 1300kms raising funds to help charities supporting our Australian ex-service men and women recovering from PTSD and physical injuries form their service in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Rotary decided that they would take on as their major project for the year, 2013, to rescue and update the garden at the front of the Memorial Hall, which was in dire need of some love.

With the help of Julie from Little Ladybird Nursery in Uralla, who donated a plan for the garden, lots of her time, some plants and ongoing maintenance work on the garden (thank you Julie!), the lads and lasses of Rotary (plus some help from our local Lion's club and other friends of Rotary) got stuck in and hacked out the old and planted the new.
